Altering an item master record

When a product code changed, instead of creating a new product code and transfer the stock on hand and value from the old product code to the new product code, you can amend the existing product code and alter the existing transactions (both posted and unposted transactions) to a newer code.

Before you make any changes to the product code, modify the preferences (From the Edit menu > Document Preferences > Data Entry tab > checked the checkbox for “When altering an item master record, ask to alter existing transaction records”).

Once the preference has changed, MoneyWorks will prompt to update the existing record whenever a product code (the item master record) has changed.

Note: You should consider backing up your Company file before you make any changes.
