How to Seamlessly Add a Detail Line to Your MoneyWorks Accounting Software Orders and Invoices?

Sometimes, you may wish to insert an item or two to group the related product items which you missed when entering a long order or invoice. However, when you click the "Add Detail Line" icon on the transaction, it always adds a blank row after the last product (or service) item. You want to insert a new row, not appending. How? How do you insert a new detail line in the MoneyWorks order or invoice?

To insert a new detail line (for a product or service item) in MoneyWorks accounting software version 8 or earlier, first, you click on the "Add Detail Line" icon to append a new row, then enter the detail item and drag it to the appropriate position.

To drag the detail line:

macOS: Shift + Option + drag to the position

Windows: Shift + Ctrl + drag to the position

MoneyWorks version 9 has improved the process. Now, you can click in any cell of the detail line you wish to insert a line above, then hold down the Shift key and click the "Add Detail Line" icon to insert a detail line in the MoneyWorks order or invoice.

For example, if you wish to add a detail line above the product BC200, you click on any cell of BC200, hold down the Shift key and click the New Detail Line icon.

On the newly inserted blank line above the product BS200, you can enter the appropriate item for the order or invoice.

Although MoneyWorks has changed how you insert a new detail line, the Shift key with Option (or Ctrl for Windows) and dragging the item in the transaction is still a valid feature that you can use to rearrange the product and service items in MoneyWorks version 9.
